Great Athlete visit: Lesley Owusu

The school was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday 14th October when Team GB Sprinter Lesley Owusu visited us as part of our Great Athlete event.
The aim of the event is to inspire children to lead a more active, resilient and healthy life, and — just as importantly — motivate children to believe in themselves.
Lesley lead a sponsored fitness circuit with each class which was such a lot of fun. She then talked to us all about her experience in an inspirational assembly with a Q&A session.
Lesley shared her amazing journey from her very first playground race to scholarship in the USA to representing Team GB at the Olympic Games. She firmly believed that anything is possible and by the end of the assembly, most of the children had a future dream mapped out!
The children were so engaged in both the physical challenge and the assembly; they had many questions to ask and left energised and inspired.
As well as connecting the children with an extraordinary athlete, the event is a fundraiser to help purchase new sports equipment and improve levels of physical activity in our school.
